Writing Prompt: The Version of You That Got You Here

Writing Prompt: The Version of You That Got You Here

Some of the most important people in our story… are older versions of ourselves.

The ones who carried us through seasons we didn't fully understand. The ones who made choices with what they had. The ones we had to gently, sometimes painfully, leave behind — so we could grow into who we are now. 🌙

✏️ This Week's Prompt

"Write about a version of yourself that you had to outgrow in order to become who you are today.

What did they need? What did they teach you?

And what would you say to them now, if you could?"

Before You Write…

Close your eyes for a moment. Think back — not to a specific date, but to a feeling. A chapter. A version of you that existed before something shifted.

Maybe they were quieter than you are now. Maybe they were louder. Maybe they were trying so hard to be loved, to be seen, to be enough — in ways that no longer fit who you've become.

They weren't wrong for being who they were.
They were just… earlier.

And they got you here. 🕯️

Let Yourself Explore

  • Who were you before this version of yourself existed?
  • What were you holding onto that you eventually had to release?
  • What did that version of you desperately need — that maybe you can now give yourself?
  • What would you want them to know?

Write freely. Write honestly. There's no wrong way to do this — only your way. 🖤
